There has been a long history the commercial
sexually exploiting minors. Legislation
has attempted to curb this since 1910. All
of the policies I have mentioned as well as An Act Concerning the Sexual
Exploitation of Minors, uses penalties as a way to deter offenders, however no
bill addresses the physical and psychological needs of sexually exploited
minors. Progress is has been made to
address the concern for the growing incidents of sexual exploitation. To date, policy has defined commercial sexual
exploitation, as well as the agents and terms involved. The National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children has also helped in training, information and raising awareness. However, with as much progress that has been
made, there is still much to do. There
has not been enough done until children and minors are safe.
AN ACT CONCERNING COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR,
Raised Bill No. 5504 (State of Connecticut General Assembly October 1, 2012).
